Aglianico is a black grape that was brought by Greek settlers to Italy's southern regions, Basilicata and Campania. The vine buds early and is harvested in November. It flourishes in dry sunny climates and grows best in volcanic soil. Aglianico wines are full bodied, deep in color, and dry with high acidity. With their rich flavors and chocolate and plum aromas, a great pairing dish for a young Aglianico wine like Rubrato, would be a roasted lamb or chicken cacciatore.
